The aerial tram at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is open for the summer season and a ride to the top is definitely a must-do on your list of Jackson Hole Summer Activities! This 15 minute trip that climbs over 4,000 vertical feet to the top of Rendezvous Mountain (10,450’) is an unforgettable experience. The views from the top are breathtaking so do not forget your camera.
Located at the home of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village, the tram is a scenic 20 minute drive from Inn on the Creek. Teton Village has much to offer vacationers in the summer and we recommend spending at least a half day there. Explore the shops and grab a bite to eat from one of the many eateries. Head to the clock tower to reach the tram and ticket booths. Operating from 9am to 5pm, tram rides cost $37, but ask at the Inn’s front desk for a $5 off coupon. Be sure to listen to the great narrative playing while you ride the tram to learn about this phenomenal piece of engineering and the area. After a ride full of terrific views, the tram will drop you off at the ‘top of the world’. 360 degree views of the valley and Teton Range will wow you! There is a small restaurant called Corbet’s Cabin that serves up tasty waffles and snacks.
Enjoy exploring the hiking trails from the top, there is something for everyone.
Hikes available from the top of the tram:
Top of the World Loop- This beginner hike offers many different perspectives from the top. Great scenery and minimal elevation change, this 0.5 mile loop is perfect for the new hikers and kids. Please note that due to a rocky trail, tennis shoes or hiking boots are recommended.
Rock Springs/ Cody Bowl Loop- Enjoy huge views and lots of elevation change on this intermediate hike. The hike starts by descending into Cody Bowl and wraps around to the Rock Springs buttress climbing wall and overlook. The 4.2 mile loop will climb back to the tram for a total of 1,500 feet vertical gain/loss. Intermediate hikers will love this one!
Marion Lake- Hike 6.2 miles each way to the beautiful Marion Lake with 1,250 feet gain and 2,410 feet loss of elevation. You will cross the boundary for Grand Teton National Park along the way. You will need an early start for this expert hike, but it is well worth it!
Happy Hour Hike- (Hike name coined by Inn on the Creek staff, Amy and Hailey) A staff favorite, this hike follows the Rendezvous peak trail from the top of the Tram to the top of the gondola. The Happy Hour Hike is about 2.5 miles mostly downhill to the mid-mountain eatery, the Couloir Restaurant. It is all about timing with this hike! Happy Hour at the Couloir Restaurant starts at 4:30pm once the gondola opens June 21st. After you hike to the restaurant, sit back and enjoy great drinks and snacks at 9,095’ above the valley.
You will fall in love with this and all the many Jackson Hole Summer Activities.
